Local Wildlife Week- cont.

Campers show their appreciation to the animals by giving a sign-language round of applause!
Campers knew that by clapping, they would scare the animals and we wanted to earn their trust!

Next we were introduced to another friend... the Opossum. Did you know that the Opossum has over 50 razor sharp teeth and can't see very well?

Jen held the Opossum while he introduced himself to everyone!

While they can't see very well, Opossums sure can smell!
Here you can see that he found his lunch...CHERRIES!

Local Wildlife Week

Everyone loves a visit from the Zoomobile!!!
Jen from the Roger Williams Park Zoo gives the campers animal clues, such as paw prints and fir.
These young detectives are carefully examining all the evidence...

Some of the clues got pretty tricky...but she couldn't trick THESE campers!!!

Now it was time to see some of the animals we revealed. Meet Pieces the box turtle!
He has a brother named Bits.

Who doesn't love a screech owl?
Did you know that they don't have the muscles neccessary for peripheral vision?
Thats why they can turn their heads almost completely around!
